   1 This directory contains example programs showing how to use libserialport.

   3 The examples currently included are:

   5 list_ports.c - displays a list of ports on the system.
   6 port_info.c - displays info about a particular port on the system.

   8 The programs themselves are completely OS-independent, and require only a
   9 C compiler and libserialport.

  11 The 'examples.sln' file is a solution file for Microsoft Visual Studio 2019
  12 which will build libserialport and all of the example programs.

  14 The Makefile in this directory will attempt to build all the examples,
  15 using 'gcc' to compile them and 'pkg-config' to discover the include
  16 paths and linker settings needed to build with libserialport. It provides
  17 a minimal example of how to write a Makefile to build a program using
  18 libserialport.

  20 If you have make, gcc, pkg-config and libserialport installed correctly
  21 then running 'make' should build the example programs in this directory.
  22 If this doesn't work, you may need to modify the Makefile or set necessary
  23 paths in your environment to suit your system.

  25 You can also build these examples using any other compiler, IDE or build
  26 system. You just need the libserialport.h header available to compile them,
  27 and the libserialport library available to link and run them.
