The Rigol scopes also have rather peculiar "*RST" handling, in that they reinitialize the USB stack, which may also be the case for this device.

The command tree may have implicit parts, so the full name of

   AM:DEPTh

may really be

   [:SOURce:]AM[:DEPTh]

This would also explain why leading colons do not work for these commands.
