It would be nice if PulseView could have a hotkey to toggle the display of tiny little "dots" or some other graphical thing that shows where the actual sampling point of digital (and analog) samples was. This can be quite useful to enable at times to figure out where exactly the digital sample points are in relation to each other, in related to PD annotations, in relation to analog sampling points. etc. etc.
Another, additional idea from IRC: Have the hotkey toggle between three different states: Per default only the graph is shown (not "dots", i.e. sampling point markers). Press the hotkey once -> graph + dots are shown. Press the hotkey again -> only dots (no graph) are shown. Press the hotkey again -> we're back to the default of only showing the graph (without dots).
Instead of having a global mode that changes the display mode for all channels, I'd vote for being able to do this on a per-channel basis. The use case is that such markers could mess up the display of high-frequency signals (e.g. a clock) that the user may wish to correlate to a signal of lower frequency (where the dots would be useful to see). In this case, having a "reset all" hotkey would be useful as well.
Yup, good point. Having it overridable per-channel can indeed be very useful. Maybe the default could be that the setting applies to all channels, and there's some additional way to also specify it per-channel.
