Dear ladies and gentlemen.

I try to start with pulseview for windows (and laterI want to work
with linux too),
and I downloaded your newest version with the windows installer there.

But unfortunely alway I get the error message (in german):
"Die Anwendung konnte nicht richtig initialisiert werden (Oxc150002).
Klicken Sie auf OK, um die Anwendung zu beenden."

Not yet I have bought some "logikanalysator"  and not so connected at the USB;
firstley I try to install the Pulseview...
What is happening?
Thank you for some Info, and kindly regards,
gerhard from germany.-

Hi, thanks for the report!

I'm relatively sure that this is related to how the Python libraries and runtime files (for libsigrokdecode) are packaged in the PulseView Windows installer. Can you please try to install the official Python installer (default location) and see if that is sufficient to make PulseView start up?

http://python.org/ftp/python/3.2.3/python-3.2.3.msi

I'll further investigate this independently. It seems to work fine for me on various systems, but that might just be due to the fact that I had (at some point) installed the official Python installer (even though it's removed now), not sure.

Also, please let us know which Windows version exactly you are using (XP/Vista/7/8) and whether it's the 32bit or 64bit version.

Thanks!

Hi, can you please recheck the latest version of the installers and see if you can still reproduce the problem? If so, please let us know which Windows version extactly you have and whether installing the official Python installer fixes this issue. Thanks!

Hi, I was able to reproduce this on a freshly installed Windows XP SP3 virtual machine, and I found the root cause.

You basically need to install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package", then sigrok-cli and/or PulseView will start fine.

I've added this to the Windows wiki page as a FAQ, thus closing this bug:
